Amy Reed was born and raised in and around Seattle, where she attended a total of eight schools by the time she was eighteen. Constant moving taught her to be restless, and being an only child made her imagination do funny things. After a brief stint at Reed College (no relation), she moved to San Francisco and spent the next several years serving coffee and getting into trouble. She eventually graduated from film school, promptly decided she wanted nothing to do with filmmaking, returned to her original and impractical love of writing, and earned her MFA from New College of California. After thirteen years in the San Francisco Bay Area, she now resides in Asheville, North Carolina.
Her short work has been published in journals such as Kitchen Sink, Contrary, Fiction, and Mission at Tenth. She is the author of four Young Adult novels: BEAUTIFUL (2009), CLEAN (2011), CRAZY (2012), and OVER YOU (2013). Her fifth book, DAMAGED, will be released October 14, 2014.

hey, i really love your book. it’s probably one of the best books i’ve read so far this year and i usually don’t like reading but your book caught my eye 🙂
I absolutely love your book Beautiful! I like how you word things, she express her emotions clearly but in a different way. At first I thought it would be like Crank series, but this book is way better than them. I can’t wait till Clean comes out.
Hi Mrs. Reed! I have read all your books and the exerpt from Crazy and you are my favorite author!!!! I am in love with your writing!! I have been writing one story for a little while now and iwas wondering if you had an email because i would die if you could check it out and give me feedback! I know youre probaly wayyyyy to busy but it would mean the world if you even replied to this comment! thanks you , keep writing please !!! 🙂 –Zoe (:
Hi Zoe, thanks so much! I’m so glad you like my books. Unfortunately, I am so busy I just don’t have time to read people’s stories right now. I wish you the very best of luck in your writing. I suggest finding writing groups where you can share your work with other writers and get feedback. Maybe your school or local library has something like this already, or maybe you can start your own group. Good luck, and keep writing! Love, Amy
By the way, I never got to tell you how much I enjoyed your book Clean. At on point it made me cry a little and books dont usally do that to me so good job. I liked it how I could easily relate to the main characters.
I love all of Amy Reeds novels and the characters are so real to me that sometimes I catch myself think about the crazy girl in Seattle and how I might move there with my mom senior year and we can run into each other and I will be her friend. But then I remember she isn’t real. None of them are. They are all what I can only hope to be little specks of someone who I’m hoping to be as successful as at some point in my life. Amy Reed, hopefully you will see this, and maybe a message I sent on here because I really want you to understand the huge impact you have had on me and what an amazing person you are.
Thank you for writing the beautiful novel Clean. I really identified with the emotions that were running high in the characters that was just like my teenage stint in rehab. This book brought out things in me that I was never able to put into words to understand myself.
I just read Clean and would like to let you know that you did a good job. It was really moving.
I just want to let you know that I’m amazed with your book/writing. Thank you and keep writing
As soon as I began reading Beautiful I was consumed by it’s spellbinding plot and deeply compelling characters. Beautiful lead me to discovery all your books and devote days to binge reading. Your writing is incredible.
Hello there,
I’m Talia and I truly love all your books (all of them), they are so good and so relatable.
There should really be more authors like you, your books helped me with my own personal issues.
You are by far my favourite author.
Tracy says congrats on the books, it’s Tracy Nishimura or something (I bet I spelt that wrong) she says you were cool and is like hella proud of you.
